Concrete for a driveway

Postby Hardy » Sun Jun 03, 2007 10:58 am

Hi,

Can anyone help!

I want to lay either block pavers or Bradstone Carpet stones onto a driveway. The carpet stones have to be laid onto concrete.

If I lay a concrete slab over the driveway-

Can I lay block pavers?

What depth of concrete slab is suitable over a firm sub base? 100mm of concrete or more?

At the moment I have some areas of hardcore and some of sand and gravel as a sub-base should I use a Wacker plate before ordering ready mixed concrete?

Should I put a drainage slope into the concrete?

Thanks Richard

You can lay pavers onto concrete Richard but they must also be laid on 50mm of sand. 100mm of concrete is the absolute minimum on a well compacted sub base with no soft spots. See our project on block paving. The better the preparation of the base, ie slopes etc, the easier it will be to lay the pavers.
