Connecting coffee machine to mains water

Im thinking of doing this, because the machine only has a small tank and it's annoying to have to refill it all the time. anybody have any info on best way to do it?

I have seen some info on another forum , one method was using smart sensors (which in turn could open a solenoid)

or the other was a simple ball valve, which would have water connected via a timer and solenoid
