I have installed the Live and Neutral conductors to the back of a lightswitch. Is it OK to connect the neutral wires in a 5A connector block behind the light switch inside of the back box.

For what purpose do you need to do this?

yes, but wrap the block in insulation tape as well.

just an afterthought, these won't normally be neutrals by the way, they are your switched live going back to the light fitting. that is normally the case unless someone has done the loop behind the swich rather than at the pendent, which would be very unusual

I have run the loop behind the switch. ie the live + neutral feed go to the switch and a seperate live + neutral provide the switched feed to the light fitting.

I want to join the neutrals and wanted to check that a choc bloc was ok.

Hi GPAGE, yes it's becoming more common to do this, most mobile homes/caracans are done this way, personally I use one of the push fit connectors to do this as once installed they are totally sealed so don't need taping to cover screw heads etc,

You shouldn't need to wrad the connector blocks in insulation tade, which should not actually be used for the purposes of insulation anyway, the blocks are insulated anyway, all the tape will do is degrade over time and leave sticky all over the block for someone lese to get all over their fingers!

it is not acceptable to leave connector blocks without some form of covering.
