Element on Cannon Oakley 20718E cooker blew and after fitting new 1, it 2 doesnt work. Checked all wires and no current on white wire between oven switch and element. Brown power wire connecting fan and element working on both. Light in oven and light beside oven switch not working. Swapped wires for lights between oven, and grill lights, and both work on grill switch, but neither work on oven switch. Any help would be great. Thanks EBSCNI
it would seem likely the element damaged the switch, which is now not working, when it blew.
This is something that many people overlook since many posts refer to size of mcb/cable/total load etc ,but miss the point that inside cookers there is no fusing down for each circuit, often wired in 1.5mm wire!
Thus a faulty element can draw relatively huge amounts of current before tripping the supply protective device, causing further damage to other parts of the appliance!
It would be prudant to test circuit through control switch with continuity ohm meter whilst appliance dead and prove switch first, since all parts not working seem to come from oven control switch.
this should be a capiliary thermostat type, hope this helps,

Very good point from collectors!
been called out twice to non working ovens ,both times that was the problem, once after grandchild had been 'playing'.
