Creaking Hatstand

Hi,

Apologies if this is in the wrong section. I have a wooden hat stand with a terrible creak everytime it is turned. As it is wood, have heard it is not good to use oil. Anyone know how i can fix this please?

If you can get the moving joint apart rub the mating surfaces with a wax candle.
