our wooden staircase is very creaky , have tried new wedges but that does not stop it , it is a 13 tread straight staircase , would it be easy to replace with a new one

I have just sorted my own out,so aswell as wedges make sure that you screw the bottom of the riser to the tread through the back of the step put five or six screws,10s will be best for this inch and a half or around that to each step that will be where your squeaking is coming from.To be extra sure gripfill all joining points ie where you've wedged up and where you have just screwed it up and as you look at the stairs from the front run a bead at the bottom joints.Any cracks or the like get some pva glue in there and hey presto no more squeaks! I take it they are old stairs and not new mdf/ply?Is it a straight flight?or does it have a kite winder?Try all this it does work. Jay
