Damp below a bathroom. please advise asap!

by andy9376 » Tue Mar 25, 2008 9:10 am

I have damp coming into my kitchen ceiling, most probably coming from the newly bodged shower installation. Please advise on where to start as i have never dealt with this problem before. The bathroom is located directly above my kitchen more precisely the shower unit is above the source of the leak.
the leak is not big ...yet and there is no mould, just yellow watery patch. How do i find and fix the source of mould? My dad wants to cut the cieling out to find the source!!! is he mad or is it just me thinking that this is not a good idea. ??? please advise asap

If you have a leak from a bodged shower installation the key here is to refit it properly so that there is not a leak. There are no short cuts. And let this be a lesson to you - Dont allow for a bodged job, there is a reason why things need to be done properly.
