Damp in bathroom, want to fit better fan

Wasnt really sure where to post this one but this is the closest I could get...

I've got a fan in the bathroom but I'm sure its next to useless, I'm having to open the window to stop the moisture buding up.

Anyway, I've thought about but a ceiling light/extractor fan directly above the shower to take the steam before it gets chance to spread around the bathroom. If I did this, where would I put the outlet? Obviously I cant just have it in the loft as that would probably cause more damage having the moisture there. Would I be best trying to see if I can lead it to the soffit and therefore out of the house that way?

Cheers
