Depth and width of footings for pond

Postby Lurcherlad64 » Sat Jul 24, 2021 3:52 pm

Hi I am building a pond 2.4 x 2.4 x1.3 mtrs from blocks laid flat. I would like to know depth and width of footings for the walls also do I need to use rebar. At least half the height will be below ground . I have dug out down to stable and solid ground.
Thankyou Mick.

Hi lurcherlad64
I doubt that in a spell of cold (sub zero) weather that concrete blocks will resist the ice expansion. The use of rebar in the mortar joints may well lead to rusting issues.
Suggest you use a solid concrete base with rebar and sloping sides also with rebar set in solid concrete.
