Disconnect 2 Gang 2 Way Wall Light that also runs Main Light Ask questions and find answers to many subjects relating to electrics and electrical work

Hi can someone advise please. I have a wall light above my bed (very old fashioned) that I wish to remove but not replace. The light switch is underneath but is a 2 gang 2way as it is also for the main bedroom light. Can I disconnect the light whilst leaving all the wiring in place for the main light? I plan having the bedroom decorated in about 6 months time and having the wiring checked/upgraded them by an electrician. Was going to cover the 'hole' up temporarily with a picture.

The worry is safe zones. If the switch shows where wires are then OK, but if not than something to show there is an electric supply must replace it. Could be a simple blank but must show there are wires.
