Does surface wiring require any regulation for trunking etc?

I am about to buy a property and the survey has noted that there is a surface mounted DSO that is linked to another surface mounted DSO using cable that is not neatly clipped or used trunking or conduit.

Do power cables have to be installed within trunking or conduit?

Many thanks in advance

Hi, short answer is no! it is not required to be in mini-trunking or conduit BUT the fact that it's not neatly run does suggest an add on , especially if other wiring hidden or neat. May not mean a problem but it does make you wonder if it's spurred from a spur or correctly from a socket on a ring.
Should not cost much to find out for piece of mind,
