Double flush not "catching" properly

by mitachu » Tue Aug 25, 2009 6:16 pm

Hi all,

I've got a double flush toilet. For some reason, and on an increasingly regular basis, either the main flush or the small flush button isn't - for want of a better description - catching.

I'll try to explain.

I press the button and whereas it used to flush strongly straight away, nowadays I just hear a small, slight flush. In order to get the frull flush I have to hold the button down for a few seconds.

Anyone got any idea of what's going on?

Thanks.
Tim.

You might try removing the buttons and try using a pen or screwdriver to activate the flush. If you can successfully operate the flush in this fashion the problem possibly lies with the adjustment of the button in the cistern lid. If the protruding bars are too short they may not activate the flush assembly fully.
