Double Light Switch to 2 Singles

by pete bowers » Tue Mar 10, 2009 7:49 pm

Advice please.
I have just divided a large lounge into 2 rooms with a studded wall. The original light control was a double switched box controlling 2 separate ceiling fixtures. Circuit wires entering the switch are yellow/red/blue and earth with a red loop connection inside. Ideally I would now like a separate switch in each room, I am able to fit switches back to back on the studded wall. Am I allowed to run 2 switches from the original double fitting/wiring, if so advice please.

hi pete

Yes is the answer but don't split the cable inside the wall. Make off the terminations inside one switch and extend using 3core and cpc cable to the second switch.
