Double Socket into 2 Fused Spurs (TV and Speaker)

by bradley2108 » Wed Sep 08, 2021 11:54 pm

Hi, we have just had our house re-wired and plastered.

We have a double socket for a wall mounted TV and Soundbar, however I have just realised when plugged in, these may sit too far off the wall, so would stop the tv being able to hang tight to the wall.

Our idea is to use 2 single fused spurs, one for the TV and one for the Soundbar.

I will saw the inside edge (5mm off each) of the single sockets to ensure the outside screws can go into the fixed 2 gang box.

My questions are;

Is this the correct and most efficient solution?

and

Can a double socket be swapped for 2 single fused spurs which loop back to the circuit?

Thanks in advance!

What you propose is dangerous. (A little knowledge often is) Get the electrician back and ask him to do the job safely for you.

Or YOU could move the TV bracket.
