I have a similar problem in that I have a double switch which controls one interior and one exterior light
My problem is that the exterior light will only come on if the interior light is switched on.
Whats wrong with this picture?

Switched live and live are the wrong way round. You need to identify which is the live feed.

It has been recently changes. The previous switch looked nothing like this one, hence the confusion.

I have tried switching the wires and no change.
Is the red wire connected correctly?
On the old switch which looked like the one (this pic is not mine) but with only one red wire plus the bridge https://www.auctiva.com/hostedimages/sh ... =0&lgdin=1

I am sure it is a simple fix that does not require to call out an electrician but I just can't see it lol

As you said, the 2nd picture you show is not yours, so that is why it is different.
As I said, you need to identify the Live feed.

Sorry if I didn't make myself clear. Looks like I have made it more confusing by saying

I was trying to say that the old switch I had fitted looked like the switch in the pic but it did not have the additional red wire.
