Drayton RTS1 room thermostat not working

by edstan19123 » Mon Dec 27, 2010 2:47 pm

My Drayton RTS1 room thermostat only operates between 22 degC and 24 degC - there are audible clicks at 22 degC and at 24degC and it definitely does not work below 22 degC. I have pulled off the control knob and found that the limiting arms are set to the minimum and maximum positions - I can turn the control knob between 10degC and 30degC. Is there anything else I can do to change the range or is the thermostat faulty?

Hi, easiest way to see if stat faulty is to temp. replace it with a standard light switch, turn on and boiler 'fires' turn off and boiler stops.
If this doesn't work the fault is elsewhere in the system.
Isolate & note connections before disconnecting 'stat and put Neutral (if there) in a spare connector and 'stats other 2 wires to C&L1 of switch.
Is this a combi or are there motorised valve(s) in circuit?
more info would help diagnosis

Hi, the room thermostat is connected to a Drayton Lifestyle LP111 timeswitch and a Vaillant Ecotec Plus 831 Combi boiler.
