By mistake I have drilled holes which are slightly too large for the screws.
What is the best way to deal with this ? Put small slithers of wood in the holes or put some kind of filler in them ?
Has anybody got experience of this ?
I would surgest that you drill an even larger hole about half way in the hole then put in a "plug" drill the size hole you wanted to in the "plug" and you have your problem solved. I am assuming you have some "plug cutters". Very easy if you have and keep the grain in line and it is invisible.
when hagging doors or what ever you may be doing, if i have to pilot anything into hard timbers such as oak or close grained hardwood is to pre drill with a drill bit 2 sizes smaller than the screw. i .e if im using 1" 8s i will use a 6 mm drill!
but if you have drilled the wholes to big you shave some triangular shavings off a square sectoin of timber, n knock them into the holes! beging triangular they shud bit into the round hole! also you may wanna use dome P.V.A glue to hold them in if you wanna make a job of it
