Earth Wire too Short for Light Fitting for Bathroom Wall Light

by smithfive » Sun Jan 08, 2017 12:43 pm

Hi,
Trying to replace a wall light in my bathroom. Thought it would be an easy job.
However, the earth wire is too short to reach the connector.
What's the best way to extend it?
I'm fairly hopeless at DIY but don't want to pay an electrician if it is easily resolved.
Thanks.

Does the sheath of the cable including reach/enter the fitting?
If so you can extend it be using a connector block and using either flex or stripped cables but it should be sleeved green/yellow.
You will need to test that you have earth continuity that creates a path back to the distributors earth.
