Earthing on hot water copper pipe

Post by CPG » Sun May 30, 2010 9:13 pm

Hi,Just re routed the copper pipes has i have repositioned the sink in the kitchen.I noticed the earth clamp was connected to the hot water copper pipe which comes from the boiler upstairs and obviously to the sink tap.Is this right has nothing is actually heading or touching earth?
Sorry if it sounds a bit confusing.

So you are saying an earth clamp is connected to the hot water feed to the kitchen sink.
This used to be the case but not just the hot water the cold feed too.
But it is no longer a requirement.
I am assuming the earth clamps are connected to earth cable back to the MET or Consumer unit.
