Electric Gate Flashing Light Not Flashing! Ask questions and find answers to many subjects relating to electrics and electrical work

Apparently, the flashing light on our electric gate hasn't been flashing for months now.
I've changed the broken 240v 40w golf ball bulb for a 4W LED golf ball bulb.
The light goes on when the gate opens, but just stays on. It doesn't flash at all.
Could it be because the new bulb is LED????

Your question is based upon the assumption that any one who replies is familiar with the equipment you have (Where ever you are) and how it works.
I am sorry to say but I have no idea what equipment you have or where you are, so I can only guess.

It flashed when it had an incandescent load (Your 40w golf ball lamp)
It does not flash with a low wattage LED lamp

Put a 40w golf ball lamp back and see what happens.
If it flashes it means that all is well and that the lamp is fed via a bi-metalic strip flasher unit, which needs a load to work properly. (Similar to what cars used to have to make the indicator lights flash)

If it doesn't fix the problem, I'll dig out the details of the unit.
