Electric shower in bedroom

Post by jeague » Wed Aug 19, 2009 9:43 am

We are hoping to put an electric shower cubicle in a spare bedroom. Are there any regs to prevent us from doing this where there will be electric sockets in the room?

Hi, first are you aware that installing a new circuit anywhere is 'notifiable work' under bldg regs 'Part P' which means either paying LABC a fee before having the shower installed or using a registered Electrician to do the install who can self certify and notify on your behalf.
As to regs; all circuits in a room containing a shower/bath must be RCD protected.
Sockets are allowed in the room provided they are outside the reach of someone in the showereg outside zones 0,1&2. your electrician will be able to advise and if too close move sockets/light for you,
