Electrical Supply to the Consumer Unit

by Nik1969 » Tue Jun 30, 2009 9:47 am

Can you tell me how far away the tails have to be from the electrical supply coming into the house to the consumer unit as we want to install the new consumer unit approx 1.5M away from the existing (very very old) box?

Thank you

Nik1969,
not a diy job, so look for part p on projects pages as it needs to comply and really should be done be registered full scope domestic installer.
Answer to ques; 1.5 metres shouldn't be problem, providing the enviroment it is going to be fixed is suitable.

also if it is a very old fuse board likely to be no isolation switch, so your local electrical board will need to remove the security tag and fuse before you can connect and power new cu up.
