Is it OK to use a 500w photographic bulb in a normal table lamp

Hi,
electrically it should be as 500/230v= 2.17Amps which most flexes can cope with, however heat from lamp may be more of an issue!
Some heat will be transfered by conduction to the pins of the lampholder so I would want to know it was a good quality new one in which the spring contacts are good,
also obviously front of lamp needs clearance from flammable items, something only you can assess!
