Hi, I’m fitting a new front door with long steel handles inside and out that cover where a yale type lock and barrel would normally go. I have room to put the lock and barrel in the door frame and then put the latch plate in the door. Is there any reason why I can’t do this or adversely affects the security?
Hi stevelud, No your proposal will not work because the latching will be the wrong way round. You may be able to use a roller type latch but you’ll have to look at the geometry to see if locking will work without having to retract the bolt first. Regards S
