Filling in Around Blown Brick (Tumble Drier Vent)

by GazzyUK » Sun Jul 28, 2019 4:10 pm

Hi folks,

I was just putting the hole through the garage wall for a tumble drier vent (stitch drilling for a 100m vent pipe) and I managed to blow the brick a little on the left and right hand sides. I've managed to collect the shards (roughly) but after trying to use Fischer "Ready Mix" cement in the tube gun to patch it back up, it looks pretty dire. I'm distinctly average at DIY and so I'm at the stage of going to Screwfix or Toolstation in the morning for some ready mix mortar to fix it. A few questions:

1) Is this the best bet, smoothing it off so it doesn't look too daft? It's around the back so it's not like you're going to see it a lot.
2) Is there anywhere that stocks the vents larger than the one I have - it's 140mm x 140mm, so I was thinking if I could get one bigger but that still takes the 100m pipe, it can cover the worst up?

Many thanks,

G
