First Floor Compressed Straw Partition Wall

by RavH » Fri Jan 12, 2018 8:41 pm

Hello All!

Not sure if I have posted this in the correct section...New to the forums.

I have a wall that I am in the middle of taking down but I have some concerns - the wall is a compressed straw wall on the first floor of my home between two bedrooms where cupboards were built into. Before taking down this section I found that the beams in the attic run parallel with the wall and read that it is potentially safe to take down.

I've taken a section out from floor to ceiling and have notice at where the wall and ceiling met that the beam running in parallel with the wall is half on the partition wall! Should I be concerned - I am in no way a professional but can get a job done when needed such as this, but I am worried this may upset the structure?

Any advise is welcome! Thanks.
