Fitting new Expansion Tank and not Filling With Water

by nb99 » Fri Oct 14, 2016 7:36 am

Hi

I'm in the process of replacing an expansion tank on my home heating system. First time I've encountered one of these. I've fit the new tank and repressurised the water but the tank doesn't seem to be filling with water. As I understand it, the tank is meant to be half(ish) full with a bladder of air and half full of water. My question is, are you meant to purge the air in the "water" half of the tank in order to allow the water to enter the tank - and if so, how? My tank is a vertical tank, water connection on the bottom and air-valve on the top. Sorry if this is a stupid question but any advice appreciated.

Thanks

NB
