flooring and floor coverings

by joan » Sat Jul 07, 2007 8:53 pm

Hello I want to put ordinary new floorboards [not 3 strip etc wood] over a tiled kitchen floor in a victorian house - there are 2 small areas which are just concrete. Someone said to gouge out 4cm strips accross the whole floor and lay wooden battens in so floorboards can be nailed to them but

a] im concerned that'd go through damp course
b] its a lot of maybe unnecessary work

any suggestions from anyone who's done it? great thanks Joan[/u][/i]
