Foundation advice for home gym

Postby erfa » Tue May 31, 2022 8:19 pm

Hello, Apologies if this is in the wrong section.

I'm looking for some advice regarding foundations.

I want to build myself a home gym, hopefully I've attached an image with the dimensions of the building. It will be built out of a single skin of 100mm concrete blocks with built in piers (either 3.6 or 7 newtowns depending on availability)

It will be a free standing structre (not attached to any existing buildings)

I was thinking of having a garage style foundation poured and wondered if that would be enough?

Simply Build It

Hi erfa,
If you are building on solid undisturbed land a raft foundation should be ok if thick enough. If you are building on built-up land or an old tip site you will need deep conventional foundations.
