Fresh plaster paint flaking off after no mist coat

by Betts90 » Sat Jun 18, 2022 10:46 am

Hello Everyone,
Im new here and im in desperate need of help i hope this is in the correct area if not im sorry.
I have had my kitchen walls plastered, however I forgot the rule of water down the paint before painting on fresh plaster. I've used valspar kitchen and bath room paint interior soft sheen. After painting its now flaking away from the wall. How should I tackle this without damaging the plaster? do I try and get all the paint off baring in mind I've nearly done the whole room

Hi betts90,
Unfortunately you have little option other than scrape off the loose paint, do this using a filler knife (these have sharp blades). If you painted areas of damp plaster the paint may well stick - trial and error is the only way to find out which areas are loose.
Regards S
