Front garden fence and does symmetry matter?

by Mattb123 » Tue Apr 20, 2021 10:30 pm

Hi, we want to replace our front garden wood picket fence with concrete posts and gravel boards and 2’ featherboard panel. Query is left side to gate is 7’2” and gate to right end is 11’4” is it better to have 6’ panel either side of gate then infill to end or split each side in two so panels each side are equal lengths (e.g 3’6”x2 to the left and 5’7”x2 to the right). Is it personal preference or is there a convention amongst professional fencers as to which is correct. Or just any opinion which would look better? Thanks

Hi mattb123
Forget standard 6ft panels and make your own - arris rails come in lengths up to 3.6m so you could have just one continuous fence either side of your gate.
