Full Height Doors

Post by normanbr » Mon Oct 08, 2007 5:26 pm

Can anyone advise on any pitfalls: I plan to install full height glazed doors through out my upstairs - three bedrooms and a bathroom - all sandblasted. I'm concerned about breaking out the brickwork above the standard door height. Do any of the walls need to be tied in?

Hi normanbr,
If it's external walls that this project concerns the walls should already be tied in.
Main pitfall is the structure of the building going to be effected by these installations. You'll find that on structural walls there will be door and window lintels/heads above the mason's opening. May need structural calculations to be made regard load bearing and wall movement. Local Build Controls will be the best place to start.
Kind Regards
