Gap in outside wall but how to fill it?

Postby Joe Scofield 1969 » Sun Jun 04, 2023 7:32 pm

I was a bit troubled to find this gap in the outside wall of my house.

As I understand it, these houses built in the 1980s have walls made of concrete blocks fronted with a limestone-coloured substance (powdered reconstituted limestone).

The limestone front seems to have just crumbled away into dust, leaving the gap shown. A pipe leading into the house is now showing. Would this be gas, electrics or water? The area around the gap appears to be dry.

How can I fill the gap? Or should I let a professional undertake the task?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hi joe scofield 1969,
Whatever material you use to reinstate the brick it will be obvious. Go to one of the sheds and buy some mortar mix and repair it yourself. Clean the recess before you apply mortar.
