Gas Boiler Problem

by den31 » Tue Apr 20, 2010 8:37 pm

Baxi Solo 3 30 gas central heating boiler overflow pipe is leaking water when the gas boiler is ON I have the boiler stat turned down to around 1 and have replaced the thermistor but it makes no difference plus the water temperature in the system is still hot. Any ideas? and what is the job of the boiler stat? Thank You.

the minimum setting on the solo stat is about 55 or 60 degrees, so it will feel hot, use thermometer.
i'm guessing you have an open vented system and you are referring to the header tank? probably the water level is too high and as the water heats and expands in the system it rises in the tank and pushes out the over flow, try lowering the water level by adjusting the arm or replace the ball valve and set water level alot lower.
if you have a sealed system and you are referring to the pressure relief pipe then if is probably the expansion vessel has lost it's charge or it's diaphram has ruptured
