Gas meter liable to water intake - how to resolve

Post by thejinkazama » Mon Jul 19, 2021 11:20 am

Hello,

I’m new here and hoping that I’m posting in the right place!

I’ve just moved into a new property and the previous owner advised that the gas meter (pictured on the right of the image) is liable to getting covered in water during periods of heavy rain. There’s a slope at the end of the driveway behind the parked car leading to the box containing the meter.

Aside from the costly job of having the meter moved up to the wall, what other solutions exist for preventing the water entering the box?

Here are a couple of images:

Thanks!

Hi thejinkazama
Can only suggest you form a concrete chamber around and under the meter incorporating a raised kerb to stop water ingress.
