Halogen Osram Oem use only MR16

Post by Robert457 » Sat Mar 20, 2010 11:16 am

Iam fitting two MR 16 bulbs into my loft they are 50w . 12V . GU 5.3 . I noticed that the box says OEM USE ONLY. Should I be concerned and what does OEM stand for? The temperature says 200 degrees C . If I buy a lower wattage bulb would that decrease the temperature?.

Thanks

Any help would be appreciated.

Rob.

OEM = original equipment manufacturer
The problem with MR 16 bulbs with GU 5.3 is there are many variations with Wattage, Angle and reflector type unlike the GU10 and GZ10 you can fit wrong type.

Original Equipment Manufacturer.
only fitted as part of fitting not for sale seperately.
No as light colour is temperature dependant.
Also tungsten/quartz halogen lamps must burn hot or life very reduced,
so should not be dimmed.
