Our Hansgrohe thermostatic bar shower was fitted by the previous homeowners about 20 years ago. It has been dripping from the on/off valve for some time now. We keep putting off getting it sorted due to being unable to get any local plumbers (Stockport area) to come and have a look at it.
Two handymen have tried to help by taking it off and showing it to a couple of plumbers merchants, but both said the existing nuts (1 3/4”) on the wall pipework are too big?!
I am reluctant to rip off all the tiling and have new pipework installed if there is a possibility of fitting a washer to the existing shower, or being able to source a replacement that fits.
Can anyone help?
Thank you in advance…
Nicola

Hi Nicola b, You’ve done well to get this far but it would be best to get in a plumber to sort it out. It may be that bushes have to be fitted to match the fitting in the wall to the new shower valve. Regards S
Thanks for replying. I’ve contacted three local plumbers in the last few months and none actually turned up! I think the job is too small and they’re not interested, hence me trying a couple of handymen…
Hi Nicola b, I’m sorry but if you cannot get tradespeople to turn up I don’t know where you go. Perhaps if you say you want a new shower bar you may get an attendance due to the potential extra ‘profit’ for the tradesperson. Regards S
