Recently lifted an old carpet from one of my bedroom floors and found a problem with two of the floorboards near the radiator, have uploaded images, no other floorboards are affected, any idea what caused this? Is it rot or man made?

Yes, this is rot. I guess this was cause by a water damage that's the carpet is rot.
