Help with wiring a new Flood light to old wiring

by Bravo20 » Tue Dec 15, 2020 4:47 pm

I have a new PIR floodlight which is pre wired (live (brown), neutral (blue) and earth (green/yellow)) and I want to use the existing cable which is an old colour 3-core (red, blue, yellow and bare).

The old light was before my time at the property and has not worked and I'm not sure of the cable trace. It may end in a switch somewhere.

Can I wire the new light up using the existing cable and if so how?

Thanks

You will need to find out what colour wire does what. Since it could have been installed by anyone it would have been up to them what colour they used for what. You would be better off getting a competent person to do the job for you.
Sorry it is not what you wanted to hear, but better safe than sorry.
