high pitched goaning noise when tap turned off

by s70nes » Sat May 19, 2007 7:36 pm

Just recently we have developed a high pitched noise which goes on and on when any tap in the house is turned off. (Bit like a whale trying to communicate) We have a combi-boiler. Also sometimes there is a 'clunk' when the water stops filling the toilet cistern, although if I flush the toilet when the groaning noise is happening it usually stops the noise.
Help please.

sounds like water hammer, try to find out where the noise is coming from and check pipes are secure. The pipes will be vibrating, Clip and insulate pipes to stop noise.
