Honeywell 2 port valve stays open even after the thermostat is no longer calling for heat. Only way I can get it to the closed position is turning the cylinder / control board off and then on again, which seems to kick the motor back to life. That is until I get into the same situation when the thermostat calls for heat again.
New 2 port needed? Or is it just the motor? Or something else?
If this is the usual Honeywell V4043 valve, it is spring return to the closed position. It is powered open, so if there is no electric supply to the valve, it should close. As yours is staying open, and not stuck (as you can get it to move) it would indicate an electrical fault, the valve is receiving power when it should not. A bit more info is required in order to help any more. Is this the hot water or heating valve, I assume you have two ? Exactly what other controls do you have on the system ? Do you have any electrical knowledge/skills and any means of testing ?
