Hot water Pressure Dips When we use Cold Water?

by twd247 » Mon Dec 14, 2015 5:36 pm

Hi All

Please can you help me find out why my water pressure dips (hot water only) when I use the cold water. I am trying to fit a new shower using the mixer tap but can not get enough water pressure when using the hot water tap. Also, when turning on the cold tap with hot water already running we only get cold water until virtually turning the cold off?!?

Please note that due to renting we are limited to what we can do, ie we cant start taking out pipes or fit a circulating pump etc.

Thanks Mark

Take a look at our page on fitting a pressure reducing valve https://www.diydoctor.org.uk/projects/prvs.htm and watch our video on the same topic

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ie_j3TFHpwg

This will reduce the cold pressure to the same pressure as the hot as all mixer showers will only function properly when the pressure between hot and cold is equal.

Also look at our page on choosing the right shower because it may be that you are trying to fit entirely the wrong type of shower for the water system you have
