Hot water tank whistles when heating

by karen1 » Mon May 19, 2008 7:17 am

We have just drained and refilled our hot water system because of changing a radiator. When we turned the hot water back on from the boiler the tank or pump by tank screeches after about 5/10 minutes?

"the tank or pump by tank screeches after about 5/10 minutes?"

so which is it ? the tank or the pump ???

A screeching noise is more likely to come from the pump, vent the pump as it'll probably be full of air after the syatem has been drained. Vent all radiators.

The system may also be airlocked, so the hot water might not heat, but you'd get a runbling or banging from the tank not screeching.
