how do i drain an ELSON emersion heater hot water tank

by bandit » Sat Mar 15, 2008 4:51 pm

i tried turning off the cold feed to this tank also the stop cock outside and turning on the hot and cold water taps but all that happened was that a small tank fed from the cold main via a ballcock within the large tank emptied, the main tank where the emersion heater that i needed to change did not drain, we could find no other drains for this tank. needless to say when the emersion was screwed out the water burst out all over the floor, that happened last time exclaimed the customer. How do i drain these tanks for next time?

There should be a drain point on the bottom of the tank - if not syphon off using a hose (if possible).
