Hi guys, i need some help here. after changing my macerator in a cloakroom WC ive chopped back my 22mm waste and found that it is filled with calcium build up so much that the 20mm opening is more like 10mm. with the waste being vertical, can i safely descale this pipe with acid and still flush this through the system or will the calcium just drop and collect in the bottom of the system near the non return valve?
Would it be out of the question to replace the pipes? no chemical clean will remove that amount of buildup and I would have thought the likely outcome is what you suggested and a high cost in chemicals repeating the cleaning over and over until it eats enough away to work well again.
The 22mm pipe is much cheaper and a known fix dependent of how much making good it would take to replace. How long has this taken to fur up? Is it worth asking the customer what they use in terms of WC cleaner as this may be the problem too perhaps.
