How to fix condensation on felt in loft?

Post by robert9962 » Sun Jan 03, 2021 12:03 pm

Good morning, I recently went into the loft and noticed the felt was wet. I assumed it was a leak as there had been a storm the night before. I called a roofer who told me there were no leaks but condensation. His remedy was to re-felt the roof with breathable felt which obviously involves taking the tiles off etc, a 2 day job. This seems a bit over kill to me, especially if the condensation is being caused by warm air getting into the loft which i suspect is happening. I would be grateful for anyone would agree that I should first of all draft proof the ceiling before shelling out for new felt. Thanks

Hi Robert 9962
First you need to establish whether you have cross ventilation and whether the vents have been sealed up.
