How to Join New Cavity to Old Cavity Wall

Postby xxJaRxx » Tue Sep 25, 2018 8:26 pm

Hi all,

I have a question I'm hoping someone can help with..

We are in the middle of building a single storey extension on the side of our two storey house, however we're not sure how to join our new cavity wall to our old one (specifically the internal blockwork skin).

The external brickwork skin will be toothed in but we're stumped with what to do for the internal blockwork skin. The reason we're stumped is because the wall it needs to join into is a structural wall holding up the second storey. The wall will eventually be removed and steels put across. One end of the steels will need to rest on the pillar, right next to where the old wall meets the new.

I've attached a picture to try to better explain what we're up against.

Any advise is appreciated!

Thanks,
James
