Hi Need advice on how to raise the level of a rendered block work wall I have attached photos of the wall. I want to raise level of the two pillars by two blocks and then fill in between them. The wall is rendered and covered in tiny stones or grit that is thrown at the render as its drying. I want to cover this with just standard render I can paint. My questions are as follows Do I need to remove all the render or can I use blocks just short of it and then apply scratch coat to level it and the apply finish coat over all the wall ? Do I need to incorporate steel, the wall is 2m high max. What mortar mix do I need ? (Spain) What render mix for scratch and finish (Spain) Should I use wall starter strips at the pillars ? Think that's it. [

You can but I would suggest building the new work flush with the existing ad applying a scratch coat over both after painting the existing work with a PVA/water mix of 2 - 1
Do I need to incorporate steel, the wall is 2m high max. Not necesssary
What mortar mix do I need ? (Spain) 4 sand - 1 cement
What render mix for scratch and finish (Spain) Scratch = 5 sand - 1 cement - Finish 4 sand - 1 cement
Should I use wall starter strips at the pillars ? Yes if the wall is 2m high it will ensure stability
Hi thedoctor Many thanks for your reply and advice. I have ordered some wall starters from screwfix eu as not available in Spain, so should be able to start work in a few days.
Hi Just an update on my wall it is now complete as can be seen by attached pics i have never done any brick/blockwork before or any rendering so I'm very pleased with the result and would just like to thank you once again for the advice given. Regards Magik58
