How to remove ceramic tile adhesive from brickwork

by sutchy » Mon Oct 08, 2007 9:33 am

First attempt at floor tiling. I have got ceramic tile adhesive on the brickwork. I thought that it would come off with a wire brush. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance

Hi I beleive if you gently heat it with a heat gun, it softens and is easier to remove.

Thankyou for your replies. Both answers produced minor success. Only problem was using a wire brush removes the colour from the bricks. Further investigation found a stunning result. Found in a tile shop. Extra cement grout film remover. A little smelly, applied with a tooth brush and washed off with a nail brush. Takes time but the result is worth it.
Once again thanks for your time and information.
