How to replace/hide wall access(?) panels in living room

Postby forgottendreams » Wed Mar 01, 2023 2:55 pm

I've just moved into a new place and found two unsightly white panels in the living room (hidden by furniture when I looked around), on either side of the fireplace. One has an aerial cable entering it:

right panel

The panels are tightly attached to the wall and I can't see any obvious way of opening them. Am I right in thinking they are some kind of wall access panels? What would be the best way to replace or remove them, so there is less of an eyesore? Thank you.
